Our History

The Bellevue Ophthalmology Clinic was founded in 2002 by Dr. Paul Harasymowycz, a glaucoma specialist at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital. Since 2005, located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood in Montreal, the main clinic quickly expanded, opening a branch in Laval in 2010 and a second one in Longueuil in 2012. Two new clinics were then opened in Vaudreuil-Dorion and Drummondville at the beginning of 2021. And in 2022, the latest clinic opened its doors in the city of Quebec.

The Bellevue Ophthalmology Clinics offer a wide range of ophthalmological care. In addition to general ophthalmology services, the physicians at our clinics provide follow-up and treatment for glaucoma, retina, and cornea conditions, cataract surgeries, chalazion removals, oculoplasty and refractive surgeries (vision correction).

In 2004, Dr. Paul Harasymowycz also founded the Montreal Glaucoma Institute within the Montreal clinic. This organization, led by glaucoma specialists, combines clinical care, education, and research. The institute hosts fellowship students, conducts research projects, and provides specialized services for patients with glaucoma.

Today, the Bellevue Ophthalmology Clinic, with its six locations, brings together over fifty physicians and specialists, employs over a hundred staff, and provides over 80,000 appointments annually.

In 2023, Dr. Harasymowycz became a co-owner of his first ophthalmology clinic outside the province, located in Ontario, named Laser Ottawa Vision Experts (LOVE).
