An effective method to treat dry eyes

This new treatment is available at our clinic for patients whose dry eye syndrome is mainly caused by a dysfunction in the Meibomian glands, located in the eyelids.

This is a recognized treatment during which intense pulsed light (IPL) is applied to the areas of the face adjacent to the eyes.

This treatment helps to decrease the signs and symptoms of dry eyes that are caused by chronic inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis) and/or for patients with a history of styes, chalazions, ocular rosacea or demodex.

The course of an IPL treatment session

A thin layer of ultrasound gel is applied over the entire area to optimize light penetration into the skin.

Thanks to the large surface treated with each shot, the face can be treated quickly (in less than 15 minutes).

Each IPL shot is perceived as a slightly warm flash of light.

In general, three to four sessions are required, spaced about 3 weeks apart, for optimal effectiveness.
