What is EVO ICL?
EVO ICL, also known as the Implantable Collamer® Lens, is a refractive implant designed to correct common vision problems such as myopia (blurry distance vision) with or without astigmatism. Unlike some other vision correction options, EVO ICL is an additive technology that corrects vision without removing corneal tissue. EVO ICL is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses and contact lenses, and unlike most permanent refractive surgery solutions, EVO ICL can be removed by your doctor, for added peace of mind.
The procedure: what to expect?
The EVO ICL is made from a biocompatible Collamer material that works in harmony with your eye. Your ophthalmologist will create a small opening in your cornea that will be used to insert and position the EVO ICL in front of your eye's natural lens. For most patients, the procedure is virtually painless thanks to anesthetic eye drops, and it typically lasts less than 20 to 30 minutes.

The EVO Visian ICL lens is intended to correct/reduce myopia between -3.0D and -20.0D and treat astigmatism from 1.0D to 4.0D. If you have myopia within these ranges, EVO Visian ICL surgery may improve your distance vision without glasses or contact lenses. Because EVO Visian ICL corrects distance vision, it does not eliminate the need for reading glasses; you may need them at some point, even if you have never worn them before. Since EVO Visian ICL implantation is a surgical procedure, before considering this surgery, you should have a complete eye examination and discuss EVO Visian ICL surgery with your eye care professional, especially the potential benefits, risks, and complications. You should discuss the time required for healing after the procedure. Complications, while rare, may include the need for additional surgical procedures, inflammation, loss of cells from the posterior surface of the cornea, increased eye pressure, and cataracts. You should NOT have EVO Visian ICL surgery if your doctor determines that 1) the shape of your eye is not suitable, 2) you do not meet the minimum endothelial cell density for your age at the time of implantation, 3) you have moderate to severe glaucoma, 4) your vision is not stable, or 5) if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
