Dr. Renaud Duval

Dr. Renaud Duval is a vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the management of pathologies of the posterior segment of the eye.

After graduating with distinction from McGill University with a medical degree, he completed a five-year residency in ophthalmology at the Université de Montréal. He then pursued further training in Chicago, Illinois, where he sub-specialized in vitreoretinal surgery. Upon his return to Montreal, Dr. Duval joined the Department of Ophthalmology at the Université de Montréal as an Assistant Professor and became a member of the retina service at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

Within the Université de Montréal, Dr. Duval serves as the Director of the Ophthalmology Fellowship Program. He is also a member of the steering committee for the Department of Ophthalmology and serves as the Head of the Retina Service at the University Ophthalmology Center of Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

Awards and Research
Dr. Duval has been the recipient of numerous academic awards and research grants. His surgical videos have been presented at multiple international conferences, earning several prizes and distinctions.

His current research activities focus on:

• The development of new surgical technologies.
• The medical application of computing advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
• The implementation of tele-screening.

He is a co-investigator for several international multicenter research projects and has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications as well as a book chapter.
