Dr. Paul Harasymowycz

Dr. Paul Harasymowycz is recognized for his excellence and innovative spirit in the field of ophthalmology. He founded one of Quebec’s largest medical networks, Bellevue Ophthalmology Clinics, which brings together numerous medical specialists. His commitment to fighting glaucoma is demonstrated through the Glaucoma Foundation of Quebec, which he created to improve care and research for the disease.

He has also distinguished himself as an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal (UdeM) and an Assistant Clinical Professor at McGill University. Dr. Harasymowycz has served over 12 years as Head of Glaucoma in the Department of Ophthalmology at the UdeM’s Faculty of Medicine. Additionally, since 2001, he has worked as a clinician and researcher at the University Centre of Ophthalmology, affiliated with the Guy-Bernier Research Centre.

His internationally renowned expertise has led him to serve on multiple committees dedicated to glaucoma. His research focuses on new diagnostic methods, such as eye imaging, and innovative surgical interventions for glaucoma, cataracts, and anterior segment pathologies.

As a pioneer of micro-invasive glaucoma surgeries, commonly known as MIGS, he has transformed surgical approaches. His expertise has led him to share his knowledge in over 40 countries at prestigious conferences. He also contributes to the advancement of knowledge through his contributions to numerous scientific publications and educational chapters.

Since the beginning of his career, Dr. Harasymowycz has played a mentoring role, sharing his skills and inspiring a generation of ophthalmologists, from students to seasoned professionals.
