Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a common inflammation of the eyelids, often chronic, that affects the sebaceous glands located at the base of the eyelashes. It manifests as redness, itching, burning sensations, crusts on the eyelashes, and sometimes excessive tearing. Blepharitis can be anterior (affecting the outer part of the eyelid) or posterior (affecting the Meibomian glands inside the eyelid). It is often associated with other skin conditions such as rosacea or seborrheic dermatitis.
